# Potentiometer problem with two cells; determine the length where the jockey should meet the potentiometer wire [closed]

So the statement of the problem is "Find x such that the galvanometer shows zero deflection." The answer to the problem according to the source is $$x = 3.33m$$.

So I assumed the cells 10V and 6V are in series as the same current flows through the part II of the circuit. But I got the wrong answer. But if I give the same cells in part II of the circuit a series treatment I get the right answer. I am confused, the same current flows through the cells, shouldn't they be in series and not in parallel? How do I get the equivalent emf in the part II of the circuit so as to find x where potentiometer will show no deflection?
